BJP MP candidate and South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai on Saturday is all set to take on Congress’s Vincent Pala and MDA’s Dr Jemino Mawthoh in the Lok Sabha’s battle for the Shillong seat.

Confident of victory, Shullai is hopeful that the people will support his candidature in the upcoming elections.

Talking to newsmen after the announcement of his candidature as the BJP candidate for Shillong Parliamentary seat at midnight, Shullai said, he is happy with the decision of the party high command.

It may be mentioned that cabinet minister AL Hek was earlier rumoured to be the BJP’s choice for the Shillong seat, however, sources informed that the Hek was hesitant to contest the elections.

When asked whether the CAB fiasco will affect the BJP’s prospect, Shullai replied in the negative and said, ” I was the first MLA to head to Delhi and submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister expressing my opposition to the bill. I am a public representative and the people’s sentiments are my own.”

Meanwhile, Health Minister AL Hek has exuded confidence on winning the Shillong seat adding that the party is working at the grassroot to ensure victory.

Acknowledging that the time is short, Hek said that they will go full throttle with the campaigning process.

Pointing out the various developmental project initiated by the centre, Hek said that they will strengthen the binding at the state and the centre and will work together. He assured that together with the MDA they will bring about the required change.
