The returning officer of Selsella Assembly constituency on Sunday issued a show-cause notice to NPP candidate, Ferlin CA Sangma, a day before re-polling was scheduled to be held in one of the polling stations in the constituency, for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.

The RO informed that Ferlin was asked to reply before 7 pm today, to which she complied.

It may be mentioned that re-polling was held in Konarchar polling station under Selsella Assembly constituency today where a whooping 93 percent voter turnout was recorded.

The notice was issued following a complaint lodged by by the Election Agenct of INC candidate contesting the by-poll to the 48-Selsella Assembly constituency.

The complainant alleged that Ferlin CA Sangma, NPP candidate was found to be present in Konarchar village on April 13, where re-poll at Konarchar LP school Polling station was fixed to be held today (April 15).

It was further alleged that following the complaint lodged in Hallidayganj Polcie station by villagers of Konarchar during the time of the incident, the police officer attending the complaint had resorted to lathi charge against the villagers for crowding outside the house where Ferlin was seen visiting.

In response to this complaint, the RO issued a show cause notice to the NPP candidate.

Meanwhile, the district police informed that the police officer accused of resorting to lathi charge was removed from area following popular demand till the end of the re-polling “to ensure free and fair election”.

Re-polling in this polling station ended peacefully today.
