In recognition for their decades of dedication, creativity and craftsmanship in music  which expressed universal feelings with poignant simplicity, Royal Global University, Assam presented the Shillong Chamber Choir with the award “ Pride of North East” on the 22nd February 2018.

The award was instituted in the year 2006 and is awarded to icons who make a difference by going that extra mile in their respective fields.

Humble beginnings, difficult challenges, hardworking, dedication are the bedrocks of great accomplishments and the Shillong Chamber Choir is one such example.

The award was presented by Sri A.K Pansari, Chancellor, Royal Global University.

The Shillong Chamber Choir, founded in 2001 by Neil Nongkynrih is a multi-genre choir which won the reality TV show India’s Got Talent in 2010. The same year also saw the choir being awarded three gold awards at the 6th World Choir Games for Musica Sacra, Gospel and Popular Music. They also performed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for visiting US President Barak Obama and Michelle Obama during their state visit to India.
