GANGTOK/SHILLONG | July 30, 2019:
The Sikkim Legislative Assembly on Tuesday paid homage to Meghalaya Speaker, Late Dr Donkupar Roy, who passed away in New Delhi on July 28 due to organ failure.
The Second Day of the Budget session 2019-20 started with the Obituary Reference on the passing away of late Sudarshan Agarwal, former Governor of Sikkim and late Dongkupar Roy.
The Obituary Reference was participated by Speaker SLA, L. B. Das and the Chief Minister P.S.Tamang.
The Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, in his obituary reference on the passing away of Late Donkupar Roy, expressed his heartfelt condolence.
He highlighted the achievements made by the Meghalaya Speaker during his lifetime and hoped for strength to be imparted to the bereaved family during this time of immeasurable loss.
On the passing away of Late Sudarshan Agarwal, CM Golay expressed deep condolence and prayed for departed soul to rest in eternal peace. The Chief Minister mentioned that the Lt. Governor had accomplished various works pertaining to social, educational and religious development while serving the state of Sikkim from 19th August 2007 to 8th August 2008.
The funeral of Late Dr Donkupar Roy will be held in Sohra while his body will be laid to rest in his constituency — Shella.
