SHILLONG | March 25, 2019:
The KSU Mawkyrwat Circle and South West Khasi Hills District together with the Seng Samla Shnong Nonglang have yet again nabbed six drug smugglers and addicts from Mawkyrwat on Sunday.
According to the KSU members, a trap was laid at the usual meeting point used by the addicts and the smugglers, after days of observation.
It was informed that the union first caught two addicts who later confessed that they received the substance from one Stevenson Tongwah from Nonglang village.
After the information was extracted, the union immediately informed the district police at 6.30 on Sunday to set up a trap to catch the drug peddler from Nongtalang.
“Unfortunately, it took almost 4 hours for the police to reach Nongtalang from Mawkyrwat, the distance of which is only 2-3 kms,” said General Secretary KSU Mawkyrwat Circle, Rutherford Lyngdoh.
It was informed that the police have found some drugs from the residence of Tongwah at Nongtalang; “But we don’t know what action has been taken against the person in question,” said Lyngdoh adding that the union has also handed over the two addicts to the police.
“We condemn the lackluster attitude of the district administration and police to tackle this problem despite feeding them the information on time,” said the KSU leader.
It may be mentioned that last week, the KSU members of the same district apprehended two people — addict and a drug peddler from Mawkyrwat.
