From Our Correspondent | Tura, Oct 06, 2018:
Irked with delay in the payment of salaries of the SSA teachers in West Garo Hills, the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association (AGHSSASTA) on Saturday demanded the district administration to release the 5-month pending payment.
The statement was issued after the teachers of the district were left even after all other districts have already been paid their salaries that were pending for 5 months.
“We are quite unhappy with the delay in releasing our long pending SSA teachers’ salaries in West Garo Hills district. Other districts like North Garo hills, East Garo Hills, South Garo Hills etc have already got their salaries so why are we (WGH teachers) not getting their sanctioned salaries. And this is the headquarter of Garo Hills district ,: said president of the AGHSSASTA, Stickson Sangma.
The teachers further questioned as to why their salaries were credited to the accounts of the Block Mission Coordinator or the BDO when it normally should be sent from the DMC’s account to the schools’ current a/c.
“Why have the salaries been credited to their accounts (BMC)? This requires a lot of time as it requires the signatures of the respective BMCs and BDOs of the areas. It is unusual and long,” they added through a press release.
“We teachers are not able to accept the new system of delaying the release of salaries which was done only in West Garo Hills. The higher authorities should direct the district authorities on the delay of releasing our salaries by processing a different system,” they added.
The AGHSSASTA demanded to expedite the process of release of salaries for the WGH district as per the direction of the State Project Director’s order and as the other district have done for the greater and larger interest of the aggrieved teachers.
