As Meghalaya is celebrating the non-passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha today, suspected members of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) today allegedly pelted stones at the shops in Rynjah market in Shillong during a victory rally carried out by the students’ union today.

When contacted, SP (City) Steve Rynjah admitted that the police had received reports that few of the KSU members had allegedly pelted stones on some of the shops at Rynjah at around 4.30 pm today.

The SP said that they are trying to find out more details to know what had actually happened.

“We are yet to arrest anyone since we need to find out who are the people responsible for pelting stones,” he said.

It may be mentioned that the KSU members had taken out a procession to celebrate the non-tabling of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 in the Rajya Sabha today.
