SHILLONG | Oct 12, 2019:

The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya arrested three persons after drugs suspected to be heroin was found from their possessions on October 9 and 10 respectively.

On October 09 at 2.30 pm, on receiving information that some drug dealers and buyers were apprehended by the locality people of Mawlai Mawroh, ANTF team of EKH rushed to the place of occurrence and apprehended five persons.

On conducting body search in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered cash amounting to Rs 18, 750 and yellowish orange powder suspected to be heroin weighing 0.94 gms from the possession of one Khrawbok Pomthet. However, nothing was recovered from the other four persons. The accused person has been arrested.

And on October 10, on receiving source information that some drugs exchange is to take place, ANTF team of the district apprehended four boys and on conducting body search in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered 7 golden tin containing yellowish orange powder suspected to be heroin and weighing 4.03 gms from the possession of Aman Lyngdoh Mawnai (20) resident of Mawpat and one golden tin containing suspected heroin, weighing 0.73 gms from the possession of Manoj Biswa (28) of Polo Buddha Mandir, Shillong.

On preliminary testing of the recovered items, it was tested positive as heroin. However, nothing was receovered from the two other persons. Both the accused have been arrested.
