SHILLONG | June 06, 2019:

Jowai Police on Wednesday arrested two persons, who are allegedly involved in the flesh trade racket in West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.

It may be mentioned that police had earlier arrested 8 persons in this case and rescued 9 minor girls from the clutches of human traffickers.

The duo who arrested yesterday have been identified as Nikil Sarkar (30) from Muktapur and Victoria Shylla (34) from Mootyrchiah, West Jaiñtia Hills District.

When contacted, SP ka West Jaintia Hills, Lakador Syiem informed that they have managed to rescue more girls, who were forcefully pushed into this flesh trade racket.

According to Syiem, the police so far have managed to rescue around 20 people who are pushed into this racket which include nine, who are under 18 years of age. The SP said that all the ten who have been arrested have been remanded to judicial custody the court.

Earlier, the West Jaintia Hills police had arrested 8 people who were allegedly involved in the flesh trade racket. The eight people who were arrested include Sten (26) from Kyrwen, Riwandakaru Dann (22) from Ladthadlaboh, Sanwaki Dkhar (28) from Khliehiongriang, Lemi Ryngkhlem (20), Elison Dkhar (24), Emryngkatmitre Dkhar (20) and Prosperity Talang (22) from Demthring and another 18 years old woman from Sohkynphor.

The SP had informed that the people who were arrested were also involved in hunting for young girls and customers who are ready to pay a huge sum of money.
