During a public gathering organised by COHSO in Students’ Field, Jaiaw in Shillong today, thousands of anti-CAB protestors thronged the venue to express their opposition against the bill even as they shout the theme slogan of ‘No to CAB, Yes to ILP’.
It may be mentioned that the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Wednesday organised a similar rally as part of a series of agitational programmes called by the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO).
Stating that implementation of ILP is of paramount importance now more than ever, COHSO chairman, Robertjune Kharjahrin accused the government of adopting a double-standard approach. “While on one hand, the government rejects the CAB, on the other, it refuses to implement ILP, a mechanism to tackle influx,” said Kharjahrin.
