The NEIGRIHMS Resident Doctors Association strongly condemned the “barbaric acts of violence” on Dr P Mukherjee, NRSMCH, Kolkata who was performing his duty as an intern.

“This inhuman and insane act of violence is not justifiable in any way. We are shocked and enraged at the indifference and failure of the government of West Bengal to protect the doctors community working there,” NRDA President, Dr Synrang Batngen Warjri said.

While expressing solidarity with the doctors in the state of West Bengal, the NRDA held a candlelight march at NEIGRIHMS on Friday evening to their strong support and solidarity with the doctors in West Bengal, “who are suffering at this moment.”

The NRDA also informed that they will join the all India strike that is being called by the Indian Medical Association on the 17th of this month.

“At the end of the day, every doctor’s wish is to heal the sick but with that also comes our very own safety and security,” said Dr Warjri.

It may be mentioned that the doctors of West Bengal have been protesting for a week now against the murderous assault on some NRS interns on Monday by the bereaved kin of a patient.
